A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children and brings a new love of life and music into the home.
by A.R. Gurney

FEB 9 – 11
When Andrew Makepeace Ladd III accepts an invitation to Melissa Gardner’s birthday party, and Melissa writes a thank-you note, a romantic friendship and correspondence destined to last for almost half a century are born. A.R. Gurney’s two-character play follows the relationship between a stuffy W.A.S.P. and a free-spirited woman, throughout their lives from childhood to death, as chronicled in the letters they write to each other.
This bittersweet epistolary romance penned by A.R. Gurney was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1988.
