Handel’s great masterwork is presented with a 25-piece orchestra and beautiful calligraphy by Timothy Botts.

Handel’s great masterwork is presented with a 25-piece orchestra, excellent soloists and projections of beautiful calligraphy by Timothy Botts. The McHenry County College Chorus will supplement the on-stage choir. Join your voice with the chorus, or just listen and be uplifted!  This is truly one of the most beautiful community-based performances. It is among the most meaningful holiday traditions.

Handel’s oratorio, Messiah, is a well-known Baroque masterpiece.  Since the first performances in 1741, it continues to be one of the most often-performed works for chorus, soloists, and orchestra.  Using only texts from the Bible, the story of the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus is told with powerfully inspiring choruses and beautifully dramatic solos.

Soloists:

Clarissa Reis, Soprano
Audrey Johnson, Mezzo-Soprano
P. Magnus Hillbo, Lyric Tenor
William Powers, Bass-Baritone
