Guthrie’s early fame was based on his anti-establishment song, “Alice’s Restaurant,” in 1967. Guthrie, the son of legendary folk artist Woody Guthrie and Marjorie Mazia Guthrie, a professional dance with the Martha Graham Company, grew up surrounded by renowned folk musicians Pete Seeger, Leadbelly Cisco Houston and the Weavers, whose influences can still be heard to this day. He is a natural-born storyteller, whose tales and anecdotes figure prominently in his performances.
