Joan and Dean will perform a variety of songs, from Gershwin to Celine Dion, and from swing to ballads, along with several original songs. They will enchant you with their cabaret-style show, musicianship and personality. They will also perform special songs for Valentine’s Day.

Joan Hammel and Dean Malsack have performed together for years in venues from concerts and festivals to intimate clubs. Joan’s ability to sing many styles fluently and Dean’s piano accompaniment will delight any audience. They were invited, by Washington D.C., to do a nine-day USO tour overseas to perform for our troops.
Joan Hammel
Joan is an award winning vocalist who performs live, as well as on TV, radio and films. She has been nominated five times for Entertainer of the Year for the Chicago Music Awards, and has been on the Grammy Nominations Ballot in various categories over the years. She has appeared in venues around the world including Las Vegas and during the Winter Olympics. She has opened for and done shows with a variety of stars, including James Brown, Koko Taylor, Buddy Rich and Shirley King. She also has an Emmy for Best Children’s Special produced at CBS-TV in Chicago.
Dean Malsack
Dean Malsack, who has been playing professionally since the age of 14, has six solo piano recordings. His most recent, “Frankly- Dean’s Way”, Dean’s arrangements of Frank Sinatra songs, was selected for the Grammy Nominations Ballot in 3 categories, including Best Jazz Instrumental Album, and by the Chicago Music Awards for Best Jazz Album.
Dean has a unique style that appeals to listeners of all ages and his compositions are memorable. His repertoire is vast and varied: from standards by George Gershwin and Cole Porter, to show tunes ranging from Sound of Music to Phantom of the Opera, to movie themes and pop songs. Dean’s recordings have been played on radio stations here in the United States and in Europe. He has performed all across the country and plays over 200 engagements annually.
