Bo Eason’s powerful solo play, written and performed by Eason and directed by Larry Moss, is soon to be a major motion picture. It tells a compelling story of family dynamics and success against great odds. Runt of the Litter is a semi-autobiographical account of Bo Eason’s career as a safety for the Oilers in the 1980s. His determination and killer instincts on the playing field remain the stuff of legend.
Initially told he was too small to play football, Eason stuck to his 20-year plan and his determination and effort led to a successful collegiate and professional career as safety with the NFL’s Houston Oilers. His brother, Tony Eason, was the quaterback who led the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl in 1986.
Leonardo DiCaprio sought out Eason to write a screenplay for him after seeing a performance. DiCaprio is just one of many notable people who have seen Eason’s play and been moved by it: celebrities such as Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tobey Maguire, Orlando Bloom, James Franco, Mariska Hargitay, Rosie O’Donnell, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Sandra Oh, Amanda Peet, Maria Bello and Carla Gugino. Football stars like Warren Moon, Bruce Matthews and Jason Seahorn have praised the work and Eason’s performance.
