About Bob
13 years ago, Mike Splitt stood up at a chamber of commerce dinner to announce that the chamber wanted to organize a 5K event in honor of Bob’s unparalleled community accomplishments. Bob was to choose the charity of his choice and he chose Raue Center For The Arts. Thirteen years later the event continues to grow and build community, just like Bob. According to Mike, Bob’s annual race day quip is that he’s “glad that it’s not a memorial race”!
For nearly 50 years Bob has truly defined what it means to be a community-minded citizen. His dedication and commitment to education, health care and building business is something to be celebrated and admired.
Event Details
Rosemary’s Walk
In celebration of Bob’s greatest love, Rosemary, we are naming our 1-mile event “Rosemary’s Walk”.
Corporate Challenge
Is your business community-minded? Then this challenge is for you….sign up 10 or more employees (and/or their family members) for the 5K and pay only $25 ($5 discount). The team with the most participants wins. Make sure to name a team captain because he/she will be emailed a “secret” challenge that must also be taken in order to win! The prize? The infamous Bob Blazier gym shoe trophy (past winners include Centegra Health System and Crystal Lake Bank and Trust) and your choice of either a private night at the movies for your employees and their families (we provide the soda and popcorn) and you choose the movie –OR– pizza and beer for 20 people.
Family & Friends Challenge
Are you a bit competitive? This challenge encourages you to create a team consisting of 10 or more friends/family for the 5K and pay only $25 or Rosemary’s Walk and pay only $13. The team with the greatest number of participants wins! Prizes are the same as the corporate challenge with one exception—his gym shoe trophy will be replaced with her gym shoe trophy.
Kids 50-yard Dash
Children 12 and under only. No registration required. Ribbons awarded to top finishers.
Non-Profit Showcase
As a way to emulate Bob’s commitment to building community we have invited other non-profits to share their mission and raise awareness for various causes in McHenry County.
Community Pancake Breakfast
What a better way to celebrate community than a pancake breakfast! This will be our inaugural and we hope you’ll join us. Costs: $3 for children 12 and under, $5 for adults. Breakfast will be served from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Collect Pledges
Want to help us fund raise? Collect pledges! Simply download our pledge form and return it with your donations on race day.
