Play’s the Thing: Intro to Shakespeare

This six-week course will focus on the basics of understanding Shakespeare’s text and taking a fun, physical, on-your-feet approach. Students will learn skills to “decode” the language, support the text with breath, and use their bodies to tell stories from the greatest playwright in the English language.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
James Knight – In addition to playing major roles at a number of regional and international Shakespeare Festivals, James has taught Shakespeare classes to nearly every age group and demographic: from elementary schools to inner city high schools, from retirement homes to cadets at West Point Military Academy, and more. This coming April, James will be playing the role of Iago in WSRep’s production of Othello. He holds a BA in theater/performance from Western Michigan University and an MFA from the University of Missouri/Kansas City.
